December 2009, The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) launched a challenge that consisted of locating 10 red balloons placed at undisclosed locations across the United States, with a $40,000 prize going to the winning person or team.

The aim of this challenge was to ”explore the roles the Internet and social networking play in the timely communication, wide-area team-building, and urgent mobilization required to solve broad-scope, time-critical problems”. (DARPA challenge)

The challenge was constructed in order to “see whether social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter should be seen as credible sources of information,” not to mention investigate new ways to react to various threats that need instant attention.

The $40,000 cash prize winner was a team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Their team managed to locate all 10 of the balloons in less than 9 hours. MIT established a website that promised hundreds, even thousands of dollars to individuals who sent in the correct coordinates of balloons.

The MIT team came up with the best strategy for building a social network to complete a task. They paid commissions modeled on a payment structure similar to some Network Marketing Companies or (MLM). They paid out $2000 to the person that found a balloon. What made it work was that they also paid you $1,000 if you were the person who referred that person. And an additional $500 if you were that persons referrer and one more level of $250. This left a maximum payout per balloon to $3,750 with a minimum of $250 per balloon going to charity.

Find out if Narc That Car is a scam: Click Here

What has the Amber alert to do with NarcThatCar? Click Here

The results of this test demonstrate the power of social networks and cold hard cash.

What does all this have to do with the NARC business opportunity ?

Well, the MIT victory shows that

Network Marketing is a great model for gathering large numbers of people to complete a task

Once you have those people in place, they can accomplish more than any other force.

This type of networking can be used to find things fast!

These are elements that, well combined, can lead to great success.
