Bethany Storro, 28, on Monday, was assaulted by a stranger that came out of nowhere. According to Storro’s mother, Nancy Neuwelt, said,” ‘Hey, pretty girl,’ and she turned and said, ‘Do you want a drink of this?’ And my daughter said, ‘No, I’m going to Starbucks. I’m alright.’ And the woman threw this acid substance … in her face.”

“It was the most painful thing ever. My heart stopped, I almost passed out,” Storro said.

Storro had just gotten a new job, and was getting out of her car in an upscale neighborhood in Vancouver, Washington.

Storro’s skin bubbled and burned as she fell to the ground.

“It ripped through my clothes the instant it touched my shirt,” Storro Said to reporters.

Her attacker ran away as Storro lay on the ground, a person nearby called 911. The ambulance rushed Storro to the hospital where she is being treated for severe burns on her face.

“The only area that’s spared is the eyelids area, where she had apparently sunglasses on when this occurred,” said Dr. Nick Eshragi, a burn surgeon.

The sunglasses had been purchased by Storro only hours before the attack. Storro’s mother says this saved her from permanently losing her sight.

Storro has been almost completely deaf since her childhood, and remarked that she will chose to remain positive.  ”I have an amazing family and friends who love me, and I’m blessed,” she remarked.

Stocks also came up after the news of more hires but lost some momentum in early morning trading. The Dow industrial rose 52 points.

This news doesn’t mean the country is out of the slump, or recession, or whatever you prefer to call it, but it is a good sign and comes on the heels of some good economic data that hit in the past week.

Scott Brown, from Raymond James and Associates Research Team, claims that he sees no sign of the country slipping back into recession, although the author would then like to know what they would call what we are currently still in.

“You’re still seeing broad-based job gains. It’s not strong, but it’s positive,” Brown said

Anything good at this point is an encouragement as the current administration and all the kings horses are still having difficulty seeing the end to this non-recession-thingy we seem to be in acceptable denial of.

It really may depend on where you are at as to whether or not you could call it a recession or not. For those that are un-effected and have managed to slip by un-scathed, then it may not be one and we may be heartily on our way out, for those who have either been effected for a while, or who are just now realizing what being “effected” by a strong recession really feels like, it may be more depressing than recessing.

States are still shedding employees, and local governments, clearing out 10,000 positions, with net losses for every month this year but one.

Temp job placements rose, which signals that employers are needing to fill necessary gaps where employees are needed, but they aren’t hiring full time, as temporary employment rose almost 17,000. This coming after a slight loss in July.

Glenn Beck is an American, he is considered conservative and has hosted both Fox radio and Fox television shows, is known to speak with Sarah Palin and was raised a Roman Catholic. Quite the combination, rumors are that Beck is also affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

We do have some information from Glenn’s tweet, on September 19th #GlennBeck:

“Sept 28. Lets make it a day of Fast and Prayer for the Republic. Spread the word. Let us walk in the founders steps.” taken from Rosh Hashanah morning, and the start of the Jewish New Year.

This at least implies that Mr. Beck is familiar with Jewish customs and dates, however, it does not gaurantee that he is any more Jewish than anyone else who can read the internet or books on the subject. The real contraversy here is obtaining the truth, which seems like trying to grab a wet ice-cube.

Glenn does seem to be sentimental to Jewish custom.

Glenn comes from a troubled past, and in all deference, he has come a long way, which in and of itself should re-instate the vision of the American Dream, which I believe to be an idea and a belief that has endured here in the United States since it’s inception over 200 years ago.

Glenn, if you do read this, even if an enemy were to look at where you are at, they should also look at how far you have come, in that, I am proud of what you have acheived, and you also show others what is acheivable, giving hope in a time of economic and moral decay.

As to whether or not Glenn Beck is Jewish, that still seems to remain a mystery, he does back certain Jewish people, the reality of his commitment to this will be seen in his future, not in his past.

“Fired might be a little too strong,” the former Florida State coach said Tuesday in an interview with the Associated Press. “Pushed out ain’t bad. I was pushed out, no doubt about it. I didn’t want but one more year. Gosh, I’m 80.”

Bowden retired — at least technically — after Florida State went 7-6 last season, the third time in the last five seasons the Seminoles barely broke .500.

The coach doesn’t act bitter, but he wants to make sure the record is straight.

“I didn’t want them to spread the story that I voluntarily, happily resigned,” said Bowden, who was in New York to begin a promotional tour for his new book, Called to Coach.

The affable Alabama native rolled up 389 victories (though 12 were vacated by the NCAA), second behind Joe Paterno in major college football in a 44-year head coaching career. In 34 seasons at Florida State, Bowden won two national titles and engineered one of the most successful runs in the history of college football.

But Florida State went 38-28 in his last five seasons and the board of trustees and then-university president T.K. Wetherell thought after last season it was time for a change.

Bowden said Wetherell presented him with two alternatives.

“Number one, you can stay as ambassador coach. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an ambassador coach in my life. I said, ‘Well, what is an ambassador coach?’

“He said, ‘Well, you can remain the head coach but you can’t coach out on the field.’ Now how can I be the head coach of this team if I can’t go out on the field? So I said, ‘Well that’s out.’

“So I said, ‘What’s the next alternative?’ The next alternative, we ain’t going to renew your contract,” Bowden said with a big laugh. “Does that sound like I resigned?”

When Bowden was an assistant coach at Florida State in the 1960s, he coached Wetherell and got to know his family.

“He and I were pretty close,” Bowden said. “I thought I was safe.”

Bowden said his relationship with Wetherell has likely been irreparably damaged.

“I doubt if I’ll have a relationship with T.K. anymore,” he said.

The Gem, slightly larger than a quarter and weighing in a tad bit more than a copper top AA battery, was comparable to the brooch that had once adorned the neck of Catherine the Great, empress in the 18th century, probably originating in Classic Colombia. The Gem started out at 5 times the final cut size, having been cut and re-cut. The Carolina Emperor is a rarity indeed, being the largest un-cut emerald ever to be found in North American, according to C.R. “Cap” Beesley, a New York gemologist who examined the stone.

Hiddenite, located an hours drive away from Charlotte, has been the birth place for big, uncut crystals, while even producing some notable gem-quality emeralds, but never has there been one so worthy as to be comparable to some of the great gems in the world.

The discovery is a rarity for emeralds found not in the rich veins of South America and Asia but in North America, said Robert Simon. Simon is the owner of Windsor Jewelers in Winston-Salem.
“Most of the stones that have come out have not been gem-quality that I would mount in jewelry,” said Simon,

Simon has also been part owner of a 7.85-carat, dime-sized emerald discovered in the same area back in 1998.

“It was so dark in color that holding it up to the sun you couldn’t even get the light to come through it,” a quality that ensured an intense green hue once the stone was cut with facets that allowed light into the gem’s core, Terry Ledford, 53, who found the stone while still ringed with spots of iron a year ago on the 200 -acre farm said

What lies still in the dirt waiting to be discovered?.

Sustaining winds of at least 135mph, the Category-four storm is forcing it’s way up the east coast and US authorities say they fear the storm may come close to North Carolina and very possibly prompt evacuations.

“There is still some concern for a close approach to Cape Hatteras on Thursday and Thursday night,” said, National Hurricane Center chief Bill Read.

Weather forecasters say Earl could cause “catastrophic” damage if it moves onto land, also causing storm surges.

The hurricane is just under a catagory five-strength, and expected to stay in the catagory 4.

Hurricane Earl could come near to the Outer Banks islands of North Carolina then moving up the East Coast and hitting the Carolinas, as far north as Maine.

There is a suggested 10-20% probability of hurricane force winds, according to the NHC’s forecast map, in the eastern part of North Carolina with a lessor probability through the rest of the coast

The Centre said that Interests from the Carolinas northward to New England should monitor the progress of Earl.”

Tropical storm strength winds will still hit much of the eastern coast even if Earl doesn’t hit land.

While Earl is making his way up the coast, he is being shadowed by Tropical Storm Fiona, east of the Leeward Isles sustaining winds of up to 40mph

Four Israelis – two men and two women – have been shot dead in the West Bank, say Israeli Police.While on the road between the settlement of kyriat arba and Bani Naim, a Palestinian village, the Israelis vehicle came under fire.
The Palestinian groupp Hamas’s military has claimed responsibility for the attack. This attack was carried out near the city of Hebron.
Ehud Barak, Minister of Israel’s Defence, said it was a deliberate attempt to sabotage resuming direct Middle East peace talks on Wednesday.

Tensions are high:
Of the two men and two women, one woman was pregnant, and they were fired at from a vehicle that had passed them by, according to Israel’s Channel Two television.
This is the first fatal shooting since mid-June in the West Bank, when a police Officer was killed.
Hebron has long since been known for unsettled violence, as 500 Jewish settlers occupy fortified enclaves and live around nearly 100,000 Palestinians, although the area is considered to be fully under Israeli control.
No warning took place that would indicate that an attack would occur, which is contrary to the pattern of the last few recent months, where the tensions were much more improved.
A meeting was held with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in Washington on Tuesday.
Despite the tension, Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjahu will still hold negotiations, Thrursday in what will be their first direct negotiations in almost two years.
This is occuring just before the beginning of the Jewish New Year scheduled September 8th through the 10th.

Glenn is hitting the center of the news beckoning “garish light of America today”, while fomenting “what we’ve allowed ourselves to become.”

Beck’s speach coming from the lincoln Memorial 47 years to the day after Marting Luther King  Jr’s speach. Beck declared, “Something beyond imagination is happening.”

“America today begins to turn back to God. For too long, this country has wandered in darkness.” claims Beck, holding an enthusiastic audience of around 87,000 people at his three hour assembly.

“Something that is beyond man is happening,” Beck rallyed his highly motivated crowd.

Beck posed the question: “Are we so pessimistic that we no longer believe in the individual, and the power of the individual? Do we no longer believe in dreams?”

“One man can change the world!” Beck claimed, encouraging  members of the audience that they must take up that charge.
